The iconic Basement Jaxx will bring their euphoric full live show to Fremantle Prison in March 2026. After relaunching their live touring with a triumphant set at Coachella 2025, followed by a huge series of shows across the UK & Ireland, now it’s Australia and New Zealand’s turn to experience it for the first time in the region since 2010.

Hailing from London and recognised globally for anthems such as Where’s Your Head At, Good Luck, Red Alert, Romeo and many more, Basement Jaxx are known for their high-octane, breathtaking live performances.

While many of their electronic contemporaries have looked to technology to make their gigs a compelling experience, Basement Jaxx have always embraced a maximalist approach, combining a dizzying and ever-growing array of singers, MCs, musicians and eventually whole troupes of dancers to turn any stage into a life-affirming cavorting carnival of music.

The Prison Tour is an optional add-on to either a General Admission or Premium GA Ticket.

Prior to the concert, join the Fremantle Prison Highlights Tour; a 30-minute tour that provides visitors with an insight into the past of Fremantle Prison, taking guests through the Main Cell Block, Solitary Confinement and Gallows. Find out how a convict-built prison transformed into Western Australia’s primary place of incarceration for men, women and children, from its construction in the 1850s to a maximum-security gaol from 1887 to 1991. With an experienced guide leading the way, walk back in time and learn about the daily routine of prisoners and the realities of life on the inside of WA’s only World Heritage-listed building. Wheelchair accessibility: 100%

Tours will be conducted in small groups and will begin from around 5.00pm. Ticket holders will be notified prior to the concert about the best time to arrive at the venue.

Basement Jaxx — the pioneering duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe — have been shaping dance music since emerging from London’s underground club scene in the mid-1990s. From Brixton basement parties to global stages, they’ve become one of house music’s most inventive forces, blending Latin rhythms, funk, garage and soul into an unmistakable sound.

Their catalogue includes legendary singles like “Red Alert,” “Romeo,” “Where’s Your Head At” and “Good Luck,” alongside critically acclaimed albums including their million-selling debut Remedy and the UK No.1 collection The Singles. Over their career, they’ve earned two BRIT Awards, a GRAMMY and global acclaim for their fearless approach to dance music and boundary-pushing production.

Equally renowned for their carnival-like live shows, Basement Jaxx have lit up iconic stages from The Hollywood Bowl to Glastonbury. Their global DJ sets continue to draw huge crowds, with highlights in 2023 including a headline slot at Detroit's Movement Festival, long-running residency at Glitterbox Ibiza and a standout New Year’s Eve in Melbourne.

Looking ahead, 2025 marked the return of the full Basement Jaxx live experience. The duo launched this new chapter with a triumphant set at Coachella 2025, before embarking on a series of massive outdoor shows across the UK and Ireland — a reminder that Basement Jaxx remain as vital, joyous, and electrifying as ever, three decades into their career.

Close Counters’ whirlwind 2025 saw the duo release their first full-length-original-record, ‘LOVERS DANCE ACADEMY’, which climbed to #3 on ARIA’s Jazz & Blues Album Chart, and was widely supported by Jazz FM, BBC Radio 1Xtra, 6Music, KEXP Seattle, Double J, RRR, and PBS.  UK tastemaker Tina Edwards noted the record was “the best dance album of the year”. Splitting the year between London and Narrm/Melbourne, their album tour saw them tick off dream festivals with the live band at Glastonbury, Love Supreme, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, The Great Escape and 2 sold out  shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London; whilst ‘back home’ they packed 1000 people into The Croxton in Narrm. In Europe they’ve played Lost Village, Defected Malta & Croatia, Manchester Jazz Festival, Somewhere Soul Showcase, and down-under notched Meredith Music Festival, Let Them Eat Cake, Falls Festival, Strawberry Fields and Party in the Paddock.

Licenced venue - food and drinks available for sale.

This event is standing only. Seating will not be provided and patrons are not permitted to BYO chair, blankets etc.

We play rain or shine.

No cameras, umbrellas, or other implements.

Gates open at 5.30PM. Please be aware there may be queues to enter the venue for the first part of the evening.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

For patrons in a wheelchair, there will be an accessible viewing area. There are two accessible viewing areas: For Premium GA ticketholders it is located at the front of the Premium GA area, and for General Admission ticketholders it is located at the front of the General Admission area.

Fremantle Prison is a World Heritage site and must be respected at all times.

Visitors to Fremantle Prison should note that the surfaces you walk on are not always even. Please watch your step.

No shoes, no shirt, no entry.

Fremantle Prison is strictly a non-smoking site.

Fremantle Prison accepts no liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from a visit or whilst on the premises.

It is a condition of entry that visitors observe all signs and follow instructions by Fremantle Prison staff.

Fremantle Prison retains the right to deny access and/or remove visitors who are being a public nuisance, acting recklessly, or failing to observe directions from Fremantle Prison staff or signage.

Strictly no BYO alcohol, and no smoking.

Food and drinks will be available to purchase at the venue. You cannot bring your own food.

No pass outs.

PARKING INFORMATION

A paid car park catering for over 60 vehicles is located directly outside Fremantle Prison, The Terrace via Fothergill Street.

Another large paid car park is located at the bottom of Fairbairn Ramp, accessible via Parry Street.

There are two ACROD parking bays located in City of Fremantle car park #29 (The Terrace) and three located in City of Fremantle car park #1 (Parry St).

Both car parks are managed by the City of Fremantle and parking fees apply.

If you have purchased a Prison Tour as part of the concert experience, you will be contacted regarding timings and other details (approximately a week prior to the show).
